This calendar was designed by Toyokazu Ono. Earlier this year, Ono moved back to his home prefecture of Hiroshima. This gave him a fresh perspective, and became his main influence on the 2026 edition calendar. “Daily life changed completely with my change of location, and I began to notice things that I otherwise would not” Ono said. “I felt something special toward everyday details, such as the rain, the sunlight, and the pleasant feeling of the wind. I wanted to express this daily experience of nature and the Japanese seasons, in this year’s calendar.”
